  • Project and Technical Information: If you are a carbon project developer or land manager engaging with our MRV platform, we may collect information about your organization, project type, land location (at a general geographic level), project acreage, and measurement data relevant to carbon accounting.
  • Communications: When you contact us by email, chat, or other means, we collect the content of your communications and any information you choose to include.
  • Event and Survey Information: If you register for events or complete surveys, we collect the information you provide in those contexts.
  • Payment Information: If you purchase Services, we collect billing information. Payment card data is processed by our third-party payment processor (Stripe, Inc.) and we do not store full payment card numbers on our systems.

2.2 Information Collected Automatically

When you visit our Website, we and our service providers automatically collect certain technical information, including:

3.2 Research and Carbon Accounting

  • To support the carbon removal measurement and verification work for which project developers engage our Services
  • To develop, train, and improve our machine learning models for carbon accounting (using de-identified or aggregated data where feasible)
  • To produce research and analytics about carbon market trends, carbon removal potential, and measurement methodology (using aggregated, de-identified data)

3.3 Communications and Marketing

  • To send you information about our Services, including updates, technical notices, and support messages
  • To send promotional communications, newsletters, and information about new features or services, where you have opted in to receive such communications
  • To invite you to events, webinars, and research releases relevant to the carbon removal sector
  • To respond to your requests for demonstrations, proposals, or information

  • To enforce our Terms of Service and other legal rights

5.2 Carbon Registries and Standards Bodies

If you engage our MRV platform services in connection with a carbon project registered with a carbon registry (such as Verra, Gold Standard, or American Carbon Registry), we may share project measurement data, monitoring reports, and other verification documentation with the relevant registry as required by the project registration and verification process. We will inform you of any such sharing as part of the platform engagement process.

5.3 Business Transfers

If Earthmover is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing due diligence, reorganization, bankruptcy, receivership, sale of assets, or transition of service to another provider, your information may be disclosed and transferred to a successor or affiliate as part of that transaction, subject to standard confidentiality protections.

5.4 Legal Requirements

We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in the good-faith belief that such disclosure is reasonably necessary to comply with legal process, respond to claims, or protect the rights, property, or safety of Earthmover, its users, or the public.

5.5 Aggregated and De-identified Data

We may share aggregated or de-identified information that cannot reasonably be used to identify you with third parties, including in published research, industry reports, and marketing materials about carbon removal trends.

6. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected and to comply with our legal, regulatory, and contractual obligations. Specifically:

  • Account and platform data: retained for the duration of your account and for a period of 7 years following account termination, to support audit requirements for carbon removal verification.
  • Contact and inquiry data: retained for 3 years following last contact, after which it is deleted or anonymized.
  • Marketing preferences and opt-out records: retained for 5 years to document your preferences and comply with applicable laws.
  • Financial and billing records: retained for 7 years as required by U.S. tax and accounting regulations.

7. Your Rights and Choices

7.1 Access and Correction

You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and to request correction of inaccurate or incomplete data. You can access and update certain account information directly through the Earthmover platform settings, or by contacting us at privacy@earthmover.io.

7.2 Deletion

You have the right to request deletion of your personal information. We will fulfill deletion requests subject to our legal obligations to retain certain data (such as financial records and carbon verification documentation that may be required by carbon registries or regulatory frameworks). We will inform you if any data must be retained and the reason for retention.

7.3 Data Portability

Where technically feasible, you have the right to receive a copy of the personal information you provided to us in a structured, commonly used, machine-readable format. Contact privacy@earthmover.io to submit a portability request.

7.4 Opt-Out of Marketing

You can opt out of receiving marketing emails from us at any time by clicking the unsubscribe link in any marketing email or by contacting us at privacy@earthmover.io. Note that even after opting out of marketing communications, you will continue to receive transactional messages related to your account and Services.

7.5 California Privacy Rights

California residents have rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) and California Privacy Rights Act (CPRA), including the right to know what personal information we collect and how it is used, the right to delete personal information, the right to opt out of the sale of personal information (we do not sell personal information), and the right to non-discrimination for exercising CCPA rights.
